  • CATCHING UP WITH JAMI FROM ROBOTS DREAM OF LOVE [RDOL] AND CO-ARTIST DANNY U4IK FOR A QUICK CHAT ABOUT THE DEBUT LP ODD000, “TRITON”.

Triton is a collaborative effort between Jami and Danny, and is a peaceful aquatic downtempo/ambient journey that grows darker as the album travels deeper. The experience of the album resembles something like a deep dive into the darkest trenches of the ocean, and has a way of hypnotizing the listener as it pulls you in.

This album is dedicated to Oddeo Netwerx co-founder, Jonathan Wheeler (aka Jonny U4IK) who passed away in 2013. “Jonny was a creature of the sea; he loved the ocean. We felt the LP title [Triton] was a perfect fit for him”, said Danny. “In greek mythology, Triton is the messenger of the sea; however, it is also the model name of Jonny’s synthesizer, which he used to craft some of his best music. Jonny continues to be a huge inspiration for Oddeo Netwerx and the current artist line up; we could think of no better way to show our gratitude than to dedicate our first release to him, and share it freely with the world.”

“We are particularly proud of the album cover for this release”, said Jami. “Kiki [Takeki Ishihara] is an amazing artist and designed a cover that really captures the feel of the album”. Takeki Ishihara (www.takeki.net) is a Dallas based artist, and a long time friend of Oddeo Netwerx. According to the label, they are so happy with Takeki’s artwork that they have asked for his help with two more album covers.

[RDoL] is a name that sticks in your head. When asked where the name came from, Jami responded “ever since the mid 90s when I first became interested in the electronic scene and writing music, I’ve played around with various artist names and have tried them on for size. In 2009 I came up with the RDoL name. The inspiration was the Philip K Dick book ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’”

So what’s next for [RDoL]? Something more fast paced, perhaps? Jami says “Im currently working on some tech house tracks, but more along the flavors of techno and acid. I’m not sure whether I’ll be releasing them under the RDoL name or another (yet to be determined). Also, I’ll definitely be collaborating with others again in the future!” So lookout independent artists, RDoL is on the hunt for like minded artists to work with on future releases.
